1st Quarter:
Pipers Hill won the first throw in, and proceeded to score straight after. Dunlavin played catch up - scoring almost immediately afterwards. The game was intense from the very get go - an atmosphere of concentration was the only thing surrounding the basketball court. Pipers Hill ended the 1st Quarter with a score of 8-6, with both sides making some great scores. 2nd Quarter: Dunlavin started with the ball and number 14 scored a basket within the first few mintes of play. Number 11 from Pipers Hill took the lead for her team once again however, securing another basket. Dunlavin responded by taking another shot and the subsequent basket made the score equal once more. Number 16 from Pipers Hill made another basket, and pushed Pipers into the lead once more. Both teams were creating plays very well, and constantly fighting for more. Dunlavin scored another basket to make it a draw again, but Pipers Hill were having none of it and scored straight after to regain the lead. A very intense quarter was ended with the score of 14-12, with the Pipers Hill girls still in the lead. 3rd Quarter: Dunlavin started with the ball and went straight for a basket - but missed! The first score of the quarter came 5 minutes into play from the Pipers Hill girls. The Dunlavin girls were playing incredibly well, with their defence getting stronger and stronger as the game progressed and prevented Pipers Hill from making any more baskets. Dunlavin then proceeded to score 2 baskets in quick succession of one another, however number 8 from Pipers Hill then took multiple baskets to double her team's lead. The Pipers Hill girls seemed to get a burst of confidence, scoring basket after basket, and the 3rd Quarter ended with a score of 22-16 to Pipers. 4th Quarter: Pipers Hill started the last quarter with the ball and took a shot immediately - but the ball bounced straight off the rim and into Dunlavin's hands. Dunlavin capitalized on this mistake, and took their opportunity to score a basket. Pipers Hill then scored again to regain their 6 point lead, with Dunlavin now playing catch up with their following basket. After 3 minutes, Pipers Hill's number 9 made another basket. Dunlavin were refusing to go down without a fight however, and score not once, not twice, but three times in the final two minutes of the game. Dunlavin closed the final play with a basket - but unfortunately it wasn't quite enough to close the gap between the two teams. The Dunlavin girls played incredibly well until the very end, and it was very unlucky for them to lose with such a small margin. The final result saw Pipers Hill win the game with a score of 28-26.
