After a year of 3rd year, a year of no trips and filled with exam stress, everyone was excited for all the 4th year trips it promised, the first of which was the TY summit. The TY summit is an event set up to showcase different apprenticeship opportunities, as well as host companies in the banking, sports or agricultural industries. Leading employers also delivered speeches about anything from how to apply to university in London to your fitness potential.
We were all buzzing as we got onto the bus for our trip, the first of many this year. The ride wasn’t long and when we got there, we were all ready to see what the TY summit had to offer. We had expectations and the summit didn’t disappoint.
It was a big place filled with exhibitors, kinda like the RDS science fair, which promised something for everyone from science to politics and everything in between.
Although the timetable for the talks was a bit messed up, all the talks were informative nonetheless, there was a speaker who talked about the balance you must have in life, how you must work hard to get what you want but must also not forget to have your relaxation time to yourself. Great talk, 10/10.
Besides the educational side of it, there was also the social side, it was a time where I hung out with friends who I hadn’t talked to in quite some time, spending half of the day playing card games and sitting on the bean bags.
The summit was overall an amazing way to start 4th year and really set the tone for the rest of the year, excited to see what all the next trips bring.
